She loves blue walls

…like, really obsessed, so I was warned. She is a kind of person who covers her living room in gold and blue, and she doesn’t plan to hold back when it comes to my design. Who am I, though?

Hi, I’m Valerie, a red-brick rowhouse built in 1938, just outside the center of Dordrecht, South Holland. I was purchased by my new owners in March 2021, but they will only move in December. (Well, the Dutch housing market is rather chaotic.) Owner is Dutch, but his wife, who REALLY loves blue walls, came from afar and speaks very little Dutch except maybe some words related to cheese. They have a young son, two crazy cats (so I’ve heard), and they are expecting an Irish Wolfhound puppy (as the wife mentions so many times to anyone who’s willing to listen); in other word, a busy family.

I think it’s going to be interesting. I think there will be chaos, and I—as an experienced house that lived through World War II—cannot hardly wait to welcome them. Therefore I write this blog to document my journey as a house, and my transformation as my new owners are busy renovating me. I am now just a house, but they are making me a home. Sooner or later.

Update 2022:

Here we are!
