The New Flooring

My floor before (with Lady Owner’s son featured in the photo): beige laminate floor that Mister Owner keeps calling “carpet”, because you could just roll it like a, well, carpet.

My Owners’ former apartment has this light-colored laminate floor with faux wood texture that caught so much stain from their toddler’s food and the cats’ water and other things that I cannot mention here. Then they saw me and they found a similar situation. So Lady Owner knew instantly what to do.

My Owners’ former neighbors in Almere luckily have a wonderful flooring and carpet company. After several meetings, Lady Owner decided her choice below:

The PVC flooring of choice: Deep Country Oak.

… and of course begged them to do my floor. Now there is a funny thing about LO, who usually never knows what she wants—regarding floor, it’s quite the opposite.

She noticed that lately light wooden floors are everywhere, ever since Scandinavian style started to dominate the interior design world. But she always knew she didn’t want it. She always knew she liked darker floors. Therefore she settled with Deep Country Oak, and everyone was on board.

Surely, real wooden floor wasn’t an option as it can be supernaturally expensive and it also requires so much time and effort to maintain. Under all of these layers of laminate “carpet”, I actually still have my original wooden floor, but most people choose to cover it with something more… manageable. In my current Owners’ case, they were convinced to do PVC, which is more durable than laminate, and looks a bit more “real”.

The flooring job took less than a week, which surprised the LO. But now that it is long done, let’s look at some photos from the process.
