Christmas is Here?

This will be the first Christmas that my new owners will spend with me, their new house. While Lady Owner doesn’t actually celebrate Christmas, she is crazy about it, precisely like that character Abed from Community, her husband’s favorite sitcom. So in the previous two Christmases that she had spent in Europe, naturally she had been judged for putting up Christmas tree too early a.k.a by the 1st of December. But after the worst year ever, this Christmas in 2021 seems to be different. Lady Owner was shocked to spot the first Christmas tree from somebody’s window in her current neighborhood in Almere, as far back as late September. Then stores started putting decorations up. Then the municipality. Then the interior blog universe starts the Christmas craze way, way earlier, seems like just right after Hallowe’en ended. So by her birthday in mid-November, Lady Owner had already been embraced by Christmas spirits from right and left.

In her mind, she already maps my living room and excitedly plans to put a 2,5m faux Christmas tree on the bay window. Due to a toddler and two cats, though, she doesn’t plan to put up any baubles. And due to no banister, then no garlands on the staircase. Alas, that poor lady hasn’t even moved to be with me yet, and it would be ridiculous to put up decorations in their current apartment when the moving date is already so close, but her head is up in the sky with all the decorated trees, gold accents, and twinkly fairy lights. I myself, well, I cannot wait to have them with me for their first Christmas in Dordrecht ever.
