Christmas Was Right on Time

I welcomed my new owners at the beginning of December. Today is the second day of Christmas in the Netherlands, or Boxing Day somewhere else, or whatever, and Lady Owner has just separated her two cats to stop them from murdering each other on the stairs.

What an especially hectic month full of last-minute installations, cleaning, unpacking, etc. On the first day of the move, my living room looked like this:

No lights were installed, no plastered drywall was painted, no wall skirting, and the floor was covered with extremely dusty stucco runners everywhere. But Lady Owner knew her priority, which was a new faux Christmas tree that MUST stand at least a week before Christmas, so she spent countless hours trying to unpack and at least put away stuff where they belonged. Then she and her husband spent countless nights, after their son was tucked in bed, painting the living room walls and ceiling with—finally—the white paint of their choice (cue drumrolls): RAL 1013 Parelwit Sigmatex Superlatex in matte finish by SigmaCoatings. And boy, was she happy.

Taking a break from painting duties by watching the last F1 race of the season that witnessed the first ever Dutch world champion. With her cat, naturally.

The result of the paint is an enveloping warmth that reflects candlelight, twinkly Christmas lights, and all the gold Christmas trinkets perfectly around the living room. The painting job finished just right on time, and the new tree arrived just right on time as well. She is tall, slim, dark, and beautiful, that tree. And more importantly, apparently the cats didn’t show any interest in climbing her or destroying her, so there went up some baubles. Not too many, just the available ones, as Lady Owner didn’t have time to get new baubles due to the newly-imposed covid lockdown.

So there they were, my new happy little family a.k.a owners, gathering in the living room on the Christmas morning, yesterday. I was happy too, that now I have become their home.
